Netflix ‘Ozark’ Season 2 Review

While Season 1 of Netflix’s original series ‘Ozark’ proved to be a suitable replacement for ‘House of Cards’; Season 2 of ‘Ozark’ doesn’t provide much of an antagonist. It’s hard to dive deeper into the characters you’ve grown to love in Season 1 when in Season 2 our characters meander around without a sense of purpose or threat lingering. Marty is still trying to get the Mexican Cartel off his back while managing to deal with the repercussions of how it’s all affecting his family.

The season falls so far off the rails of what made it so special that it literally had a throw-away episode revolving around supporting characters explaining how they fell in love. I did however enjoy Janet McTeer’s performance as the ruthless lawyer Helen Pierce. Every time she appeared on screen you knew something awful was about to take place. Despite Season 2 having its missteps, the series still poses enough intrigue to get a Season 3. If Jason Bateman and his team of writers can present a strong new antagonist, continue to develop Helen Pierce, give the Byrde children more intensity, and finally have the Cartel make an appearance; then Season 3 should be promising!

You can watch Season 1 & 2 of ‘Ozark’ only on Netflix.
